UPDATE: Rockstar has updated its official Twitter account to clarify that those who pre-ordered Grand Theft Auto 5 on PSN Europe will be able to download the game on Sunday at 3pm BST.

Original Story: Gamers who pre-ordered the PlayStation Network version of Grand Theft Auto 5 have expressed their anger at Sony after the company delayed the ability to download the game before its official release.
Sony is yet to explain the delay, but it may have something to do with last month's high-profile GTA 5 leak that came about because hackers cracked open copies of the game downloaded from the EU PlayStation Store.
But there are a few issues with this, and they serve to point out how digital downloads of games on consoles still have a long ways to go in terms of convenience, and why people are so adamant about wanting to keep their discs. In the case of GTA 5, the file size is just absolutely massive. For PlayStation 3, it's 36 GB of space needed. 17-18 GB will be taken up on your hard drive to play the game when all is said and done, but 36 GB are required initially to install the game, and that's what you'll be downloading all night.

This is a problem for many reasons. First and foremost, the fact that there's no day-before preload for GTA 5 in the US hamstrings the convenience of this entire process. Therefore, depending on your internet connection speed, the game might not even be done by morning if you were planning on playing as early as possible. Second, if you're randomly disconnected from PSN in the dead of night, you'll have to resume things the next day at who knows what percentage level of completion (as my PSN/internet drops out frequently, I can easily see this happening). This may also happen if the PSN servers crash with everyone trying to download such a massive file at once with no preload. Additionally, your PS3 might not have 36 GB of free space if it's an old model or full of other games and DLC. And lastly, if you live in the US where this "digital midnight launch" is taking place, you may have an ISP with bandwidth limits, meaning the download is a big bite out of your monthly allowance.
To some, these issues might not be issues, and digital download could be the way to go. But for many, a five minute drive to Gamestop either at midnight, bright and early in the morning, or after work or school is more convenient than waiting for a big download.
It will be interesting to see how this works when we reach the next generation of systems. Yes, GTA 5 is an unusual case because it's supposedly one of the physically biggest games out this console generation in terms of content. But what happens when next-gen games are all this size or larger? The US at least isn't going to see an immediate, dramatic spike in internet reliability or download speeds if history provides any sort of lesson. Will it actually be more convenient to download these massive files instead of a quick trip to the store for a disc?
There could be a saving grace in the form of technology that allows players to play games as they're downloading, an ability both the PS4 and Xbox One have touted, which could eliminate many of the headaches involving large-scale digital downloads. But we'll have to see how well this actually works, as it's hard to imagine the process will be completely glitch-free right off the bat.
Perhaps this process will get easier on consoles soon, but for now a big overnight download doesn't seem like the best way to get a game that's this highly anticipated. I don't trust PSN or my ISP enough to guarantee me a working copy in a timely fashion on release day, so I want a physical game in my hand in this case.

Unfortunately, the Japanese company has went back on its statement, and have delayed any pre-release downloads until Monday the 16th of September - just a day before the game launches. With no concrete explanation, it would appear that the recent leak of Grand Theft Auto V - which Sony was forced to apologise for - may have played a large part in the decision.
I had preordered the game at gamestop and target (just in case lol) but decided today to just download it. I have 100+ gigs left on my fairly new 500 gb PS3 so why not. I'm friggin pumped and can't wait to play!!
We in America can not download the game until 12:00am sept. 17. Absolutely bogus!! I was hoping to be playing at midnight not having a overnight download that I'm sure will be severely hindered by the amount of people who will be swarming to download it at the same time. I'm not happy about this >
A re-release of the game was announced for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One at E3 2014. This enhanced version features an increased draw distance, finer texture details, denser traffic, upgraded weather effects, and new wildlife and vegetation.[65] It includes a new on-foot first-person view option, which required the development team to overhaul the animation system to accommodate first-person gameplay.[4] The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions were released on 18 November 2014.[66] The PC version, initially scheduled for simultaneous release with the console versions,[65] was delayed until 14 April 2015.[67] According to Rockstar, it required extra development time for "polish".[68] The PC version is capable of 60 frames per second gameplay at 4K resolution, and the Rockstar Editor lets players capture and edit gameplay videos.[69] Plans to develop single-player downloadable content were later scrapped as the team focused resources on Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Redemption 2.[70]

They stated that mods are unauthorised and may cause unforeseen technical problems and instabilities.[101]
Now that Hulu Plus has been available to everyone for a while - no invitation required - the video service has updated its app on the PS3, adding, among other things, the ability to sign up for a new account directly from within the game console.
The next time you launch Hulu Plus on your PS3, you'll be prompted to download the update, bringing the app to version 1.01. In-app registration is the biggest functional update, but there are some minor, technical enhancements as well.
Hulu senior development lead Daniel Bear noted in a Hulu Blog post, "The update improves the quality of the playback experience, specifically addressing issues such as skips, jumps, and stalls that may occur on certain network connections."
As promised, Rockstar delivered a new 1.02 patch for Grand Theft Auto V earlier today, which is a 39MB download and was designed to address some of the more common Grand Theft Auto Online issues, which should be as follows:
